Women, Power & Culture: Then and Now

“We need more theatre like this … Proved that we have some truly excellent women playwrights and their voices are ones that we need to see – not because they are women but because they are great.” Australian Stage
ABOUT THE SHOW
It’s amazing to think that it’s taken Australian women 109 years to get from casting the first vote to nailing the top job. So, how far have we really come?
We dared a group of Sydney’s leading and emerging female playwrights to tell the stories that lie behind the triumphs and struggles that mark women’s contribution to our political, social and cultural life.
Is being a princess still every girl’s dream? Do we secretly desire to be the next supermodel, living a celebrity lifestyle with our own reality TV show? Or has breaking the glass ceiling and challenging the beauty myth enabled us to throw away our aprons, make astonishing advances and go on extraordinary adventures?
Women, Power & Culture – Then and Now is a jam-packed two weeks of thought-provoking theatre. Join us for a quirky, outrageous, sneakily serious and deadly funny look at the ever-changing Australian Woman.
