CRIMES OF THE HEART

By Beth Henley

6 – 23 January 2026

PRODUCED BY SISTERINCT PRODUCTIONS IN ASSOCIATION WITH NEW THEATRE

A poignant dark comedy that follows the three MaGrath sisters—Lenny, Meg, and Babe—as they reunite in their small Mississippi hometown during a period of collective crisis. The plot is set in motion when the youngest sister shoots her abusive husband, prompting the middle sister to return home to assist the eldest who has spent years isolated while caring for their dying grandfather. Beneath the surface of the play lies a profound exploration of familial loyalty, generational trauma, and the struggle for autonomy. The sisters are forced to confront the lingering shadow of their past and their own “crimes of the heart”—the personal failures, emotional betrayals, and stifled desires that have defined their adult lives.

Beth Henley’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play is a hilarious but honest testimony to the dysfunction of humanity, familial dynamics and the strength of the matriarch.
